Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use Tape Parrot — the website, the app and any related service. Please read them, particularly section 3 (Tape Parrot is not investment advice) and section 10 (our liability to you).
1. Who we are
Tape Parrot is run by Michal Tara, trading as Tape Parrot (“we”, “us”), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Tape Parrot is not a company. Our address for service of documents is:
20 Monckton RoadPontefractWF8 2FPUnited KingdomEmail: support@tapeparrot.com. Other ways to reach us are on the Contact page. We are not registered for VAT.
2. The service
Tape Parrot shows a live feed of financial news headlines from third-party publishers, an economic calendar, alert rules, and optional AI-generated context and summaries. There's a free plan and, when available, paid plans with extra features. What each plan includes is described on the pricing section of the site at the time you use it.
Until a licensed data provider is live, the economic calendar shows simulated data, not real economic statistics, and is labelled as such — see the Disclaimer.
3. Tape Parrot is not investment advice
Tape Parrot provides general information only. Nothing on it is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, a personal recommendation, or an offer or invitation to buy or sell any investment. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. You are solely responsible for your own investment and trading decisions. The Disclaimer forms part of these terms.
4. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address, or with Google. Keep access to that email account secure — anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- An account is for one person. Don't share it.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, copy in bulk, redistribute, resell or republish the feed, calendar or AI output, or use them to build a competing service (programmatic access is only allowed through an API we offer for that purpose, on the plan that includes it);
- get around plan limits, delays, rate limits or security measures, or access another person's account;
- interfere with the service, overload it, or probe it for vulnerabilities except under our security policy on the Contact page;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to send spam or abusive requests (including to our sign-in or contact forms).
6. Content and intellectual property
Headlines and linked articles belong to their publishers (see Sources). The Tape Parrot software, design and brand belong to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own purposes while these terms apply.
7. Paid plans and billing
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy a paid plan, you buy it from Paddle, under Paddle's buyer terms, and Paddle handles payment, invoices and sales tax. We never see or store your card details.
- Prices, the billing period, and any taxes are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your account page. You keep paid features until the end of the period you've paid for, and aren't charged again.
- We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a price increase, which applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
- If a renewal payment fails, you keep paid features while Paddle retries the payment. If Paddle can't collect it and the subscription ends, your account moves to the free plan; nothing is deleted.
8. Your right to cancel (consumers)
If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have 14 days from buying a paid plan to cancel it for any reason. A paid plan starts as soon as you buy it: at checkout, Paddle asks you to agree to that and to acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once you start using the plan within those 14 days. If you cancel within the 14 days without having used it, you get a full refund. Your purchase is governed by Paddle's buyer terms, and the Refunds page explains how this works. This doesn't affect your other statutory rights.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Tape Parrot running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and sources we rely on can change or stop. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we'll tell you, and you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your current billing period.
10. Our liability to you
- What we don't limit. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law — including your statutory rights as a consumer (for example, that a digital service is provided with reasonable care and skill and as described).
- Consumers. If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable. Tape Parrot is provided for domestic and private use: we aren't liable to consumers for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
- Trading and investment losses. Tape Parrot provides information, not advice (section 3). To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from an investment or trading decision you make or don't make, including one based on a headline, calendar value, alert, tag or AI-generated summary that was inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, missing or simulated.
- Business users. If you use Tape Parrot in the course of a business, we exclude all implied terms to the extent the law allows, and we aren't liable for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- Cap. Subject to point 1, our total liability to you arising from or in connection with Tape Parrot in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the service in that period and £100.
11. Ending your use of Tape Parrot
You can delete your account at any time from your account page, or by asking us on the Contact page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk, or where the law requires it; we'll tell you why where we can. If we close a paid account for a reason other than your breach, we'll refund the unused part of your billing period.
12. Privacy
How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect for paid plans. If you don't agree, you can stop using Tape Parrot and cancel any paid plan before the change applies.
14. Transferring this agreement
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation — including a limited company set up to run Tape Parrot. We'll tell you if that happens, and it won't reduce your rights. You may not transfer your account to anyone else.
15. Complaints
If something's gone wrong, email support@tapeparrot.com or use the Contact page and we'll try to put it right. For anything about a payment or refund, Paddle, as the seller of paid plans, can also help.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and if you live elsewhere you keep any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
17. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. No one other than you and us (and Paddle, for section 7) has any right to enforce these terms.
